New regulation 258/2010 for importing Guar Gum into the EU |
|

|
In addition to our latest market report on Guar Gum and the PCP difficulty we are glad to inform you that India has finally initiated proceedings to fullfill the new EU requirements as per above regulation. In the next paragraphs we will outline how the process will be in the future:
- Geo Chem laboratories will draw samples from the goods at the factory following the required sampling plan. samples will then be sent to Vimta laboratories for the usual testing
- The laboratory analyzes the samples for PCP and sends their analytical report to SHEFEXIL.
- The Shellac Forest Product Export Promotion Council will endorse the laboratory report and also issues the health certificate.
In the future we should thus be able to import Guar Gum by presenting the PCP test reports (as before) and the health certificate (as per new regulation) into the EU. The first containers are already tested and on the way to the harbour. Unfortunately drafts of the health certificate can't be shown yet but we have good faith that we will be able to import Guar Gum without any problems. Speaking about new proceedings and more complex procedures, for sure we have to face increasing prices for Guar Gum. The factories in India will charge a certain amount plus to compensate the changes. We hope that the situation will settle down soon. Thus we recommend you to study the prices for the next few weeks and not to cover your long term demands. |
